Because at sixteen I wrote this in between breaks of frantically pacing the floor of my room while waiting for the boy I liked to call
Odilon Redon's Ophelia
Me at 16
For him I’m flames on the ocean and any thought of him sweeps me up as frenzied northern wind on wild fire
I burn and boil the water scalding the fish
I’m mayhem near cataclysmic
My Novels and The Romantic Query Letter That Will Get Them Published
It all started with me wanting to publish my historical romance manuscript Ellesmere and then learning that Canadian agents only represent writers on the short-list for the Giller Prize. Now two years and almost four novels later, I spend my days querying American agents with the hope I'll find the one that will fall in love with the novels enough to take me on as client.
Urbane gardener, philosophical cook, well informed shopper and promoter of the basic white linen and place setting.
I am a new author who previously worked as an interior decorator and wedding planner. I want desperately to be a brilliant chef an obsession that has resulted in me owning nearly a hundred cookbooks and I watch way too many hours of the food network. When I am not trying some new recipe, I obsess about my plants. I’ve yet to have a rosemary that has been able to survive the Canadian winter. I often fantasize about moving to the Tropics so I can garden all year round. The profile photo is a portrait called "La Lettre" by one of my absolute favourites, Delphin Enjolras, which I feel is fitting for a blog called The Romantic Query Letter. Thanks for visiting.
