The Greatest Wall

Beth Crome thank you for expressing the isolation
.
John William Godward's Sabinella

I have built the greatest wall
Higher than the clouds
Stronger than steel
Thicker than the earth's crust
Surrounds me on all sides
Protects me from those who would destroy me
Yet never did I realize when I built
The greatest wall
I forgot to make a door

And here his 'Sweet Nothing'

I wonder you know if one is able to sense the distance between isolation and loneliness.
You have my love,
Simone

  1. Marvelous art and beautiful lines. And I'm clueless on an answer to your question but intrigued by it just the same.

  2. Wow...I'm speechless...such a deep and profound thought. The poem is just wonderful, so powerful, so haunting. I wonder if I remembered to make a door, I fear the answer is no.

  5. My mother used to say a person can be in a room full of people and still feel lonely. The older I get the more I can relate to her philosphy. Without some sort of connection to those in the room, the person may as well be alone.

I think isolating oneself from all human contact will assure loneliness. By nature, man is a social being.

  10. they walk hand in hand, my dear. i hope the reason you posted this is not because you're feeling isolated and alone.

but, as most of said, because they are right, these are beautiful images and stunning words.
